Tiemar Tegene

b. 1985 Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

She is a printmaker who earned a BFA in Printmaking from the Allee School of Fine Arts and Design in Addis Ababa. Her work expands traditional etching techniques
through mono-printing and the addition of colored pencils to repeating icons and patterns, while weaving in personal narratives. Her compositions reflect
her emotional experiences and relationships, drawing inspiration from stories, song lyrics, and film. Tegene’s portraits blend reality with imagination, capturing universal emotional moments. She exhibited with Circle Art Gallery at the 1-54 African Art Fair in London and had solo exhibitions at the gallery in 2023. Her work has been displayed in Ethiopia and internationally, including in
Lithuania and New York.
